Sensei Tom Everett is definitely one of the most knowledgeable karate practitioners I have ever had the pleasure on knowing. He has been promoted to sixth degree black belt in two different major karate styles, Okinawan Goju-ryu, and Koryu Uchinadi Kenpo-jutsu . Mr. Everett, not only works excellent kata, he has a unique understanding of effective karate application and how it can be applied in crucial self defense situations.
This outstanding teacher has a through knowledge of karate basics and kata theory. He understands the principles of kumite or light contact sparing and, I might add, he can do this extremely well. This exceptional karate-ka has dedicated his life to the martial arts and to his students. He has an excellent command over Okinawan weaponry and is now actively training in and teaching Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at his dojo in Fishers, Indiana.
Over the past fifteen years, Mr. Everett has developed his business into a first rate martial arts training facility. He is very active in community service and trains several local and federal law enforcement officers in both karate and Jiu-Jitsu.
In so many instances, karate is becoming more and more of “a money making business” with little or no regard to the students and what is being taught. In Fishers, this is not the case. The student is always the number one priority with Sensei Tom Everett.
It is certainly true that in Mr. Everett’s martial arts school the focus is directed towards teaching effective techniques with workable solutions in serious self-defense situations. However, even more importantly, his students are taught the same Respect, Discipline and Control, that develops confidence and self esteem along with so many important strong physical qualities. Without a doubt, Mr. Everett helps build leaders!
Note: I first met Mr. Tom Everett in April of 1991. I have personally worked and traveled with him since that time. We have traveled from coast to coast and he has become a true friend.
Sincerely, Shihan Larry T. Davenport 7th dan

Sensei Everett
I wanted to send you a quick note to say thanks for all you have done for the kids confidence, discipline and respect. These are tough lessons for kids to learn. However, they need them now more than ever. Equally important, they need to know the provider of those lessons CARE!. This is what they learn from you.

While I certainly make no claims to having expertise in the martial arts, I did spend a couple of years in the past training with two different karate instructors. Both where excellent, ad I learned many valuable lessons. However, what most immediately sets Sensei Everett apart from others is his knowledge of, and desire to teach, the traditions and history of the martial arts. His understanding in this area is extensive and growing, and he consistently encourages us to join him in developing our minds along with our bodies.
This encouragement is combined with Sensei's ability to share self defense and kata techniques both in broad terms and in the finest details. The workouts are rigorous, but time is always left for developing skills. As a husban and father who works every day, I value my free time. Sensei Everett makes certain that every minute counts. This is what has keeps me coming to class week after week.
And let's not forget the Questions. I realize that traditional martial arts teachers in Asia provided lessons with little dialogue and often no chance for students inquiries. Sensei Everett passes on traditional skills, but he has adapted his teaching methods to accommodate our American sensibilities. Our questions are supported and even demanded. In this way he actually promotes the Chinese proverb, "He who ask a question is a fool for five minutes; he who does not ask a question remains a fool for life."

Sensei Everett,
I wanted to write and express our pleasure with Ellie's progress and overall experience in your school. As you know we have been around for almost 4 years and Ellie has never mentioned quitting or slowing down because obtaining her black belt is important to her. I will tell you this is the only activity she has stuck with remotely close to 4 years. We appreciate that your school is not a belt factory but you still seem to be able to keep the interest of the children by changing things up.
Ellie has always had a fairly high level a self confidence, but I have seen a marked difference in her confidence level to try new things since she began with you. Ellie is not afraid to hop in and try almost anything once, and I attribute much of this to her experience in your school. I have also notice in her other sports such as soccer she is clearly nt afraid to take a hit and this is definitely due to karate, which if you recall is a tremendous improvement since the early days of sparring.
Our overall experience with your school ha been very positive as a parent and I am sure Ellie feels the same.
